Recent snowstorms caused widespread postal and courier disruptions that delayed the ability for some employers to receive printed W-2 forms. Electronic delivery of W-2 forms would have eliminated this inconvenience. Employees of our clients who utilize that method of delivery were able to access their forms weeks prior.
Besides ease of delivery, there are other benefits to electronic W-2 distribution:
- More secure delivery, protecting sensitive information from loss or theft
- Paperless environment means cost savings and environmental benefits
- Easy delivery and access for remote workforce
- Less forms to manage at the busiest time of year
If you are not taking advantage of electronic W-2 delivery, plan to do so next year. We offer the ability for all employees to opt-in to receive an electronic copy of lieu of paper via a pop-message when they login to the self-service portal. Employees who “accept” will receive an email the day the form becomes available to view, download, and/or print.
