First, navigate to Employee Management-Employee Pay-Garnishments. Click Add New and enter the following information:
Garnishment Type: Select the appropriate garnishment type from the drop down.
Start Date: Enter a date in this field only if the garnishment is not to start with the next scheduled payroll.
Sequence Number: This is the priority by which the garnishment will be processed and is determined by the garnishment type. Confirm with the garnishment agency if you are unsure of the priority.
Description: This field will appear on the agency check. Enter the agency ID number or garnishee’s SSN.
Payee Info
This is where you will set up the payment to the agency. It should be noted that both fields are drop downs that are populated on the client or system level.
If Client Payee is selected, the system will issue a third-party check. ACH Payee will generate an electronic funds transfer to the agency.
Case Number: Enter the case number or agency ID.
Garnishment Calculation
The garnishment calculation is outlined in the court order. Select either amount or percent, and enter the amount listed on the garnishment.
Not to exceed % or $ is the maximum amount allowed to be deducted per the court order.
Limits & Balances
Expiration Date: If entered, this is the date the garnishment will stop.
Limit: The is the total amount to be withheld for the garnishment. If an amount is entered in this field, the garnishment will be calculated and deducted until the limit is reached.
If the expiration date is reached prior to the limit, the garnishment will stop on that date!
